pain is there for a reason
pain is there as a sign that you are still alive, or in medical things, pain is there to mark whether the lesion or burnt is still on the surface, because if it goes deeper, you can no longer feel the pain
so would you rather ease the pain?
in some cases, we cannot give anti pain medication, like in torsio testis for example
we cant give anti pain medication because we cannot mark whether the testis has been put on its normal positition or not
or would you rather not feel the pain? and makes other helps you?
like in delivering babies, you can ask for an epidural injection, in order not to feel the pain in contraction; but this also means that you need others to tell you when to "push", you cannot feel when to push in order to deliver the baby, but you need to know that soon after the baby is delivered, your pain is gone..
in medical knowledge.. pain is known to be one of the sign of inflammation, that means something is entering your body, trying to make you sick, the reaction of you body is called inflammation. there are 4 signs of inflammation: Kalor, Dolor, Rubor, Functiolaesa. Kalor is the heat, like when you get fever when catching a cold. Rubor is red, like when you fall and scratch you skin, and your skin gets red. Functiolaesa is when the body part that gets infection cannot do its job, like when you are stabbed on your heart and you heart can no longer pump blood through your blood vessel to fulfill your body needs, haha
and there we have Dolor
guilty as charge, i took this from wikipedia, so you cannot cite this for scientific task 😜
From Old Occitan dolor, from Latin dolor, dolōr (“pain, sorrow”)
pain, due to inflammation, can be caused by 2 things:
1. tearing of the tissue, can cause edema, and therefore it can press the tissue surround it and it can cause pain
2. releasing of inflammation mediators, like prostaglandin, bradikinin, histamin, and they can stimulate the periphery pain nerves, so there you got pain
okay, i'd like to talk about prostaglandin.
it is known as a pro-inflammatory mediator, meaning when there is an inflammation, there it is, it came
but this prostaglandin (PGs), now also known as an anti-inflammatory mediators, so it got two functions, it gives you pain, while in the other hand it also helps you overcome the inflammation.
here i cite Murata and Maehara (2016) of their paper, called: Discovery of anti-inflammatory role of Prostaglandin D2
"PGs are produced when arachidonic acid is released from the plasma membrane by phospholipase A2. Prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) is synthesized from arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenase (COX). Then, PGs are synthesized from PGH2 by PG synthases. PGs with a prostanoic acid skeleton have various physiological activities and play a substantial role in the inflammatory response. There are four types of PGs: PGE2, PGI2, PGD2 and PGF2α. PGE2 is one of the most physiologically abundant PGs, and it induces peripheral blood relaxation, resulting in increased blood flow, as well as fever and pain. PGI2 causes vasodilatation and inhibits platelet aggregation, and PGF2α contracts the uterine smooth muscles, which is necessary for parturition"
so...
The inflammatory response is an important biological defense to exclude foreign substances
and repair damaged tissue. On the other hand, the loss of a proper inflammatory response delays wound
healing.
and the question is..
would you rather let the wound heals by itself and enjoy the pain?
or would you rather take some medication to ease the pain? (well.. medication it self have side effects though)
or would you just cut your body where it wound and hurt you?
just remember.. pain is there for a reason
pain is there as a proof that you are a living creature, you can only feel pain when you are alive, yes?
